Troop Meeting 2-20-2018

Please join us tomorrow (2/20) for the following:

  • 6:30p Troop Leader’s Council Meeting.  All youth leader are required to attend.  All other can join us too, but are optional, otherwise they have the night off.
  • 7:00p  Parent Meeting.  I encourage all parents to attend in order to stay informed.  Please note, there a situation regarding parents at last weekend’s outing that I would like to address.

The Court of Honor is coming up, so we need to set the deadline at tomorrow for reporting of advancements, so that we have time to assemble all the awards.  Those turning in advancement by tomorrow will have their awards at the Court of Honor.  For those that turn in after tomorrow, we will make an effort but cannot guarantee that they will be presented at the Court of Honor.

I hope to see you tomorrow.

Yours in Scouting,

Martin Cardenas, SM T-777

Environmental Science MB March 27 meeting

I hope that everyone is doing GREAT!

This week I am taking my finals, finishing up this quarter and will be home for a week. Which means I will be at the Troop meeting next Tuesday 3/27/18.

Although I did tell my mom (Ms Pam) that I can help out the Cubs, I will meet with anyone that has finished up the Environmental Science MB.

Please email me by next Monday so I know who I need to meet with.

Bridging ceremony for Pack 722

As a reminder, this Wednesday, March 21, we have been invited to a bridging ceremony to officially welcome 4 Webelos Scouts as they join our Troop.

Pack 722 will be holding their Pack Meeting at:

Suzanne Middle School

525 Suzanne Rd

Walnut, CA 91789

The Pack Meeting starts at 6:30 pm.

Usually they have awards for all the Cubs, so am confirming to see if we can arrive a bit later to be there just for the Webelos.  I’ll let everyone know, but for now we should plan to be there at 6:30.

It’s important that we have a good representation at this event, so I’m asking everyone to make a strong effort to be there – Adult leaders too.

We’ll discuss this at tomorrow’s parent meeting.

Yours in Scouting,

Martin Cardenas, SM T-777

Fusion 2 ANY 1 Fundraiser

Greetings Troop 777,

Our Fundraiser on Thursday night was a tremendous success!  Thank you for your overwhelming support!  The restaurant had more business than they have ever had on a Sun.-Thurs.   This was in spite of Open House and Eighth Grade Orientation at Diamond Bar High School.  Thank you so much for adjusting and accommodating your schedules.  There will be more info. to follow at our Troop Meeting this Tuesday.
Way to go Magnificent Sevens!
Yours in Scouting,
Duane Hardley

Please thank Simon, the owner of

Fusion 2 ANY 1, the next time you see him.

March outing weather update

At our last Troop meeting, we had shared that we would continue to monitor the expected weather situation for our weekend outing and would make a final determination by today.

At this point, the weather looks like it will (mostly) cooperate, so we will proceed with our campout, but with the following changes:

  • We will not depart on Friday night (they’re still expecting rain from Friday afternoon to most of the night).
  • We will depart on Saturday morning instead.  Please arrive by 6:45a at CVS for check-in.  We’ll need to hit the road by 7:00a.
  • Because of the change in departure:
    • Everyone should take care of their own breakfast prior to departure.  We will not have breakfast at the camp – first meal in camp will be lunch.
    • Patrols may want to consider moving their hot breakfast meal, usually cooked on Saturday morning, to Sunday instead.  The adult patrol will do exactly that.
    • Everyone purchasing food should alter their menu accordingly to remove one breakfast from their meal plan.

Also, please be aware that even though we are not expecting rain for Saturday and Sunday, a Scout should always prepared.  In addition, the weekend will be very brisk, the daytime high for Saturday is forecasted to be 47 degrees (yes, that’s the high) and the night low at 30 degrees.  Please prepare accordingly.

With everyone’s cooperation, it will be a great weekend!

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Cardenas, SM T-777

See you there!

Court of Honor March 6 2018

As you are (hopefully) aware, tomorrow, March 6th, is our March Court of Honor.  Please invite your family.

Because the Court of Honor is a formal event, all Scouts need to be in full “Class A” uniform including the sash and appropriate head-wear (ball cap, beret, or campaign hat).  Adults are encourage to also be in their full uniform.

As our tradition, we’ll have a potluck at the start and then proceed to awards immediately after.  Patrols are assigned to bring the following items:

Please arrive by 6:40p for setup so that we can start promptly at 7:00.  We’ll need some parents to coordinate the food station in the kitchen.
I hope to see you there!

Yours in Scouting,

Martin Cardenas, SM T-777

ILST (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops)

Tomorrow is the ILST (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops).  It will be held at:

AQMD – room CC3

21865 Copley Dr

Diamond Bar, CA 91765

(at the front door entrance, make an immediate left turn)

The training will start at 8:00am promptly and will conclude by 12:00 noon.

There will be doughnuts and juice for those that attend!

Scouts that were elected to leadership positions at last Tuesday’s meeting must attend.  There have a very small number of scouts that are not able to attend due to conflicts that have directly cleared their absence with me.  Aside from them, I am expected to see all other elected Scouts.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Cardenas, SM T-777

P.S.  In keeping with BSA’s two-deep leadership policy, I will need (at least) another adult to stay for the duration of the meeting.
