November 7, 2023: Paracord Bracelet Tutorial

Below is a good YouTube clip that shows how to make the bracelet. You can jump straight to the 4:03 time stamp - everything prior to that will be done by me and will already in place when you receive your bracelet material.

Youth leaders will need to practice to be sure they know how to make this. It might be a good idea to do it a few times (undo the bracelet each time and start again)

At the meeting on November 7, everyone (Webelos Scouts and our Scouts) will be participating in this activity and will be depending on those youth leaders for help.

October 31, 2023: Yearly Planning

The Troop's annual planning conference is coming! We're planning the full 2024 calendar year!

There is a lot of business to conduct, so we are asking everyone to arrive by 6:00p (instead of the usual 7:00 start time). In exchange, we'll provide pizza and drinks for everyone. So don't worry about trying to get dinner before the meeting.

In order to be efficient with our time, we need to ask everyone to do their homework and to come prepared to offer outing suggestions. Anyone can offer suggestions for any month, however the assigned patrol needs to come prepared for their assigned month(s).

Patrol and month assignments are as follows

Month Patrol Usual Outing
January Electro Wizards Snow/Cold Camp
February Black Mambas Typically a Military camp
March Froot Loops ---
April --- District Camporee
May Flaming Pegasus ---
June Guardians ---
July --- Summer Camp
August Blockheads ---
September Electro Wizards ---
October Black Mambas ---
November Froot Loops Webelos Camp - Calico Rocket Launches
December Flaming Pegasus No Camping - Day only

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • Assigned patrol: Responsible to present options for their assigned month(s). However, anyone (whether adults or Scouts from other patrols) may present options for any month.
  • Blockheads and Flaming Pegasus: These two patrols are a combination of brand new members along with members with a little more experience. Only the new patrol members get a pass this year. All other patrol members are expected to actively participate.
  • Camping Cobras Patrol: Being the newest patrol, all Cobras will have a pass this year because it's their first year. However, they should still plan to attend in order to see the yearly planning in action. Next year, they become an active participant for this planning conference.

OUTING SUGGESTIONS:

We will plan monthly (weekend) outings, summer camp rotation, and any other special outings.

Consult the links below for helpful information in gathering outing suggestions:

  • Calendar Template for 2024
    • Calendar Template - 2024.
This calendar shows the 2024 calendar and includes all known events, e.g. Scouting events, school district events, holidays, etc.
Events shown in green with a "777" are specific to our troop.
Scouts should plan to bring their own copy to the planning meeting.
  • Monthly (weekend) and Special outings
    • Annual Planning Ideas (Outings).
These are ideas based on many years of previous outings. However, any idea may be offered even if not on this list.
  • Summer Camp
    • Summer Camp History: Rev. 10/26/2023
This shows about 30 years of historical data listing the summer camps the troop has attended.
